Vyšný Kubín is a village near Dolný Kubín. Its 17th-century mansion is an important building and essential dominant. From the historical point of view, we know that a residential building in this area was built in 15^th century, while the first foundations of this mansion were laid in the first half of the 17^th century. During its existence, Kaštieľ Kubínyi has undergone several modifications – both baroque and classicist. The building has been dilapidated for many years, but it got a second chance, thanks to the willingness of new owners. That is, what we would like to share with you now – come to visit and enjoy the genius loci of the newly opened Kaštieľ Kubínyi. The visual attractivity will charm you straight from the beginning. The reason of this enchantment can be the stunning reconstruction of the historical building of mansion, or the Amalia Restaurant, which was built after the complete renovation of the former stables. One of the complements of visitor’s experience is also a restored park in English style. The location of the mansion guarantees not only excellent accessibility, but also views of the Kubínska Hoľa, archeological site Vyšnokubínske skalky and Veľký Choč.

The history of the Kaštieľ Kubínyi dates back to the first half of the 17^th century, when Beňadik Kubínyi built a renaissance mansion with large park on foundations of older building’s ruins. Typical onion-shaped towers, however, were built during the baroque rebuilding that took place in the middle of the 18th century. In the 19th century, the building was modified in classicistic style, and on the façade of the Chateau the coats of arms of the Kubínyi and Adda families were added.

In the half of the 20th century (1948), the mansion was taken away from Kubínyi’s family. In 1989 was Kubínyi family again able to get the mansion back into their possession, but for the lack of funds for maintaining the building was family forced to sell it. Since then, the mansion has been dilapidated under the ownership of several people, until the current owners have bought it in very poor condition in 2010.
